Delhi Boom! News
(taken from Samir’s DB! Blog)

Whosoever has seen Delhi Boom! at the Berlin Film Festival considers the film stylish, underground, very well shot, experimental, and sometimes referred to as the Indian 'El Mariachi'. In fact, Delhi Boom! has opened many doors for us in the UK and US film industries.

I would like to thank and congratulate Mao, Steve and Nic Saunders for working on this project wholeheartedly and with immense dedication during the course of most of last year. Mao completed over 70 special effects shots, some of which look amazing and others add greatly to the story. Steve worked his way through a list of over 500 layered sound effects plus engineered all the dialogue tracks. Nic composed fantastic and soulful music that will eventually be released as a separate soundtrack.

There aren't many small, independent films emerging from India on this scale, particularly not in the action genre. It is therefore an original and fascinating concept for a Western & film festival audience who aren't into the usual songs, dance or bollywood escapism.

On 11th February, within just 3 months of completing post, we negotiated a deal with Italian production and distribution company Minerva Pictures Group at the Berlin Film Festival.

Delhi Boom! will hit Indian multiplexes sometime during the summer of 2008.

Delhi Boom! had its market premiere at Cannes on 16th of May 2007.

Further Great News - One of india's awardwinning and best sound designers will be giving DB! a professional mastering and mix for the cinema. He congratulated the composer for a wonderful and unusual musical feel to the movie.

Samir Puri’s second full length feature is currently in pre-production, the title of which is still under wraps. Nic Saunders is already on board and this promises to be a well financed production. We are already looking at producing a large orchestral sound combined with an authentic world music tinge.

Devotion News – The Essential Vegetarian.

The large task of individually scoring 60 recipes in various styles is almost completed and we look forward to seeing the dvds out in the shops soon.Coconut There are some excellent and surprisingly simple recipes here which of course the composer had to sample during the process. None of which involved a coconut on the head but it was worth a try.

More original Mantras for meditation are also in the pipeline with Devotion.

VDBs Karin Stowe – Director of Rotate the M has since gone on to make many important documentaries around the world. He says “I will be in Asia this summer from the 6th of July to 28th of September on another tour undertaking visual documentary work.  I have concluded my work in Zimbabwe and as the media coverage has faded, I now move to next project.
